Privacy Policy
Service Status: Pilot (Testing) Phase
At FindMyMeds, transparency is a core value. We believe you should always know what data we collect from you and how we use it to simplify your healthcare journey. This Privacy Policy describes how FindMyMeds.ng (“FindMyMeds”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares your personal information across our website, WhatsApp API service, and supporting applications.
Notification of Changes to this Policy
We review this Privacy Policy annually to ensure compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and other applicable regulations. As we improve our WhatsApp API functionalities and add new features, our data practices may change. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and, where feasible, notify you via our WhatsApp channel or a prominent notice on our website.
Personal Information we collect
We are committed to the principle of data minimization, collecting only the essential information required to provide our service. During our pilot phase, we collect:
Identity and Contact Data: Your WhatsApp phone number, name (as set on your WhatsApp profile), and any identifiers provided during chat interactions.
Health & Search Data (Special Categories): The names of medications, dosages, and pharmacy preferences you search for. Under the NDPA, we treat your medication search history as sensitive personal data.
Location Data: Your general location or specific neighborhood in Lagos to identify the nearest stocking pharmacies.
Usage and Technical Data: IP addresses, device types, browser versions, and details on how you interact with our website and WhatsApp bot.
Marketing and Communications Data: Your preferences in receiving updates about our full launch or newsletter subscriptions.
How we collect your data
We gather information through three primary channels:
Direct Interaction: When you message our WhatsApp API, fill out a form on our website, or report an issue with a pharmacy listing.
Automated Technologies: As you use our website, we use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to remember your preferences and analyze traffic patterns.
Third-Party Platforms: We utilize the WhatsApp Business API (Meta). While we only process the data you send to us, Meta may collect technical metadata according to their own privacy policies.
Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing
Under the NDPA 2023, we process your data based on Consent (by initiating a chat) and Legitimate Interest (to improve healthcare accessibility). We use your data to:
Service Fulfillment: Match your medication request with the inventory of licensed partner pharmacies.
Pilot Optimization: Analyze search trends to determine which medications are most in-demand and which areas of Lagos are underserved.
Pharmacy Coordination: Share your request with a specific pharmacy so they can reserve the medication for your pickup.
Safety & Security: Detect and prevent fraudulent search patterns or misuse of our API.
Cookies and "Understanding What You Want"
To make FindMyMeds.ng relevant to your needs, we use cookies (small text files) and web beacons.
Persistent Cookies: These stay in your browser to recognize you on return visits so you don't have to re-enter your Lagos neighborhood every time.
Analytics: We use tools like Google Analytics to see which pages are most helpful. These cookies do not allow us to discover your real-world identity; they simply provide statistical "Aggregated Data."
Control: You can set your browser to refuse cookies, though this may limit the functionality of the "Wallet" features on our site.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes. We only share your data with:
Licensed Pharmacies: Only the specific information necessary for them to confirm stock and hold a medication for you.
Logistics Partners: If you opt for delivery, your contact details and address are shared with verified dispatch riders.
Professional Advisors: Including lawyers and auditors where necessary for compliance.
Law Enforcement: Only when we are legally compelled to do so by Nigerian authorities.
Data Security and International Transfers
Your data is encrypted in transit (via SSL/TLS) and stored on secure cloud servers. While our primary operations are in Lagos, some data processing (via WhatsApp/Meta) may occur outside Nigeria. We ensure that any international transfers comply with the NDPA 2023's requirements for adequate data protection levels.
Pilot Phase & Illustrative Content Disclaimer
As FindMyMeds is currently in Pilot Testing, certain data processing activities are geared toward system calibration. Please note that illustrations, pharmacy "demo" responses, and pricing data on the website are for design purposes only. Personal data collected during this phase helps us move toward a fully operational, verified service.
Your Legal Rights
Under the NDPA, you have the following rights:
The Right to be Informed: Knowing how we use your data (this policy).
The Right of Access: Requesting a copy of the data we hold about you.
The Right to Rectification: Correcting inaccurate health or contact info.
The Right to Erasure: Requesting that we delete your chat history and data ("Right to be Forgotten").
The Right to Data Portability: Requesting your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Children's Privacy
FindMyMeds is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover a minor has used the service, we will take steps to delete that data from our records.
